What have you learned during the making of your practice tasks?
I feel as if I have progressed in the use of editing software, I feel as if I have gained an understanding of how to use the software effectively to create a piece of work that I can say I am proud to call my own, as it shows it's inner beauty and reflects my passion for the subject. I have improved on my ability to manage time; on my first project Josh, Declan and I used almost all of the time whereas in my second project I was done before the deadline with at least a lesson worth of time to spare. In my first project I have noticed that having people to help can be useful, in my second I worked independently, a problem with this was that I had to come up with my own ideas, I had pitched my original idea to a group and they used it so I was forced to use another idea. I can storyboard, I find it a useful tool for shooting scenes as the shots planned out were sorted in advance.
Areas
of success:
I have a good knowledge of the skills needed to produce good media now due to my practice of these said skills through my past projects. My finished versions of these projects is to satisfaction and beyond some of the time. In the planning stage I used story-boarding to help me plan out the shots, I also wrote statement of intent and scripted the events to unfold in the scene. I always finish my project on time and am never late for deadlines, I am usually done before the deadline with some time to spare and polish out the project afterwards. One of my media productions won an award this shows that I am capable of making productions worthy of awards and so are the people I worked with.
Areas
for development:
I have learned to improve my editing skills, and directing skills. My editing skills have improved since September when I first started with this course, I have gotten better at cutting up, reordering, adding audio and visual effects. I remember that at one point I needed to create a underpass effect to suppress the sound so the actor could be heard and I used a high-pass accidentally but later fond the correct way to do this creating the desired sound affect. I need to practice my drawing skills so people can actually see what my story board is showing.
How
well did you meet the brief?
I successfully created a 30 second cereal advert, it was not however specifically targeting a health conscious consumer like the brief asked for, I did however create a PG advert that could be show on TV during day-time hours. I planned, filmed and edited the entirety of this project with an idea in mind and made it. However I almost messed up the advert by missing a voice over but I then proceeded to record one in a store room cupboard and edit it into the advert and manipulate the sound to make it, the V.O. sound louder and quieten down the music that was apart of the advert. I also stuck to continuity and the shots required were used.
Feedback from others:
Good
1. Camera work
2. Directing
3. Editing
Bad
1. Story-boarding
